September 4th, 2026 - 1 Ball 1 Game and Surf Nation have joined forces to launch an innovative, community-first recreational soccer initiative across a select pilot group of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). Built on the belief that every child deserves the chance to play, this partnership fundamentally reimagines youth sports by removing financial barriers and reinvesting directly back into local schools.
At the core of the model is a bold commitment to accessibility and direct school support: 75% of all program fees are returned straight to the participating schools, funding campus initiatives and physical education resources. To tackle the traditional pay-to-play model head-on, school principals are empowered with full discretion to provide scholarships to any student who wants to play, ensuring cost is never a hurdle between a child and the pitch.
Surf Nation will support 1 Ball 1 Game with equipment, grassroots coaching development, and engaging curriculum tailored specifically for school grounds, keeping the game centered around friendship, school pride, and fun.
"This partnership is a total game-changer for our school communities. Youth sports should be about joy, belonging, and bringing neighborhoods together. By giving our principals the direct power to scholarship any student and returning 75% of all fees back into our local school buildings, we are ensuring soccer is truly open to everyone. We couldn’t be more excited to see kids playing with pride on their home fields alongside their classmates." Says Taylor Argue, School Outreach Coordinator for 1 Ball 1 Game
"True grassroots soccer starts right where kids are every single day - at school. We are thrilled to partner with 1 Ball 1 Game on this FCPS pilot to redefine what youth sports access looks like.Reinvesting resources directly into schools and giving local leadership the power to welcome every child, regardless of financial background, is exactly how we foster a healthy, thriving soccer community." Says Andy Prosser, Director of Surf Nation
The pilot will kick off across selected Fairfax County schools this upcoming season, creating an inspiring, sustainable foundation for recreational soccer throughout the county.
