Coach education and collaboration continue to be a priority across Surf Nation, with 30 coaches recently joining a dedicated study group focused on the FIFA Talent Identification Course. The initiative brought coaches from across the Surf community together to explore key principles of talent identification, player development, and the environments that allow young players to reach their potential.

Alongside the FIFA course content, coaches participated in group discussions, sharing experiences, challenging ideas, and exploring how talent identification can be approached within their own clubs. The conversations provided an opportunity to connect international perspectives with the practical realities of youth soccer in the United States.

Gary Curneen, Surf Nation Director of Football, highlighted the value of bringing coaches together through shared learning.
"One of the biggest strengths we have at Surf Nation is our coaching community. The discussions throughout this process have been fantastic, with coaches sharing different perspectives, asking important questions, and reflecting on how we identify and develop young players. For me, the real value is not simply working through a course, but creating opportunities to learn from each other and challenge our thinking. That's how we continue to grow as a coaching community."

The study group reflects Surf Nation's ongoing commitment to providing meaningful coach education opportunities that go beyond traditional webinars and presentations. By encouraging collaboration and reflection, the aim is to help coaches translate new knowledge into better experiences and development opportunities for players.

A big thank you to all 30 coaches who joined the initiative and contributed to the conversations throughout the process.
