Manhattan Kansas Surf Joins the Surf Soccer Family

Launching immediately, Puma FC Manhattan will transition to become Manhattan Kansas Surf and join the Surf Nation Community.

San Diego, CA., March 30, 2023— In the world of youth sports, the Surf brand is renowned for professionalism, elite event management, high-quality coaching, and, most importantly, a deep commitment to player development, resulting in hundreds of All-American athletes and thousands of scholarships. Our mission is to create experiences and opportunities for kids, and we’re excited to announce our next step toward achieving this goal in the Manhattan & Flint Hills area.

Effective immediately, Puma FC Manhattan will transition to the newly formed Manhattan Kansas Surf Soccer Club. Based in Manhattan, KS, Manhattan Kansas Surf will join the Surf brand to build a regional powerhouse in conjunction with Kansas City Surf that will create improved experiences and opportunities for all players in the area.

The Surf Nation community has a proven track record of developing players and seeing them move through the player pathway into the US National Team Program as well as into the professional and collegiate ranks. Led by the most experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate soccer minds in the state, Manhattan Kansas Surf will provide high-quality programming and a complete pathway for elite players in the Manhattan/Flint Hills area and beyond.

“From when I started coaching in Manhattan in 2010, my goal was to bring the soccer community together by creating an environment with teams that provide players a path to long-term success in soccer and life,” says Ricky Wiseman, Manhattan Kansas Surf DOC. “In 2017, we were able to bring two-thirds of the soccer community together by merging both long-standing Manhattan soccer clubs: Little Apple Soccer Club and Flint Hills Soccer Club, forming Puma FC Manhattan. Manhattan means a lot to my family; with my wife being a 4th generation wildcat and her family being long-time donors to K-State, I’m so proud to be able to bring Surf Nation and all the opportunities that Surf Nation can provide to this fantastic town! Our vision in joining Surf Nation is to give the soccer players in Manhattan the same opportunities as all the players in Surf Nation, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.”

Manhattan Kansas Surf will continue to provide the best player development experience, pathway, and opportunities in the community. Being part of the Surf Nation network, Manhattan Kansas Surf players and families will have access to additional support on and off the field to ensure we continue to be the number one soccer destination.

The top players from Manhattan Kansas Surf will have direct access to Surf Select, an unprecedented identification program built through Surf Nation. This program allows selected players to compete in the best international and domestic events, picking from a player pool that expands from Puerto Rico, Rhode Island to Hawaii and Canada.
