Since 2019, Puerto Rico Surf has been a proud partner of Surf Nation, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the partnership. We have watched their amazing club grow and seen them take full advantage being a part of the Surf brand.
We sat down with Puerto Rico Surf's General Manager, Miguel Morales, to learn more about how Surf has helped their club, players, coaches, and administrators with their upcoming season goals:
What is the greatest benefit to Puerto Rico Surf being part of the Surf Nation community?
The greatest benefit is the access our players and staff have to high-level programs that help them continue growing and improving. Our players are exposed to new opportunities, tournaments, and showcases, while our staff receives support and mentorship from some of the best in the industry.
As the fall season winds down, what excites you most about your club's performance? Do you have any goals for this season as a club?
As the fall season winds down, we are especially excited to finish the year strong with our Baby Soccer program. The growth and enthusiasm we've seen from young players shows that soccer in Puerto Rico is expanding, and kids are eager to learn more. Our goal is to continue developing these young athletes and building a strong foundation for the future of the sport on the island.
Puerto Rico Surf competed in Surf Cup Salou this year. Can you talk about the experience and the impact this had on your players and staff
This was our second year attending Surf Cup Salou, and it was once again an incredible experience. Competing against top clubs from around the world while enjoying the unique and vibrant tournament environment is truly unbeatable. The event pushes our players and staff to raise their standards, learn from elite competition, and embrace the global level of the game.
Puerto Rico Surf has sent dozens of players to represent the Puerto Rico National Team at youth, men’s, and women’s levels. What do you attribute to your players’ ability to make an instant impact in these high-level environments?
The biggest factors are discipline and hard work. We teach our players to show up to every practice ready to give their best and to take advantage of every opportunity they’re given. That mindset prepares them to adapt quickly and compete with confidence at the national team level.
