Surf Nation is comprised of like-minded coaches and administrators dedicated to our Surf mission to provide the best experiences and opportunities for their athletes. Since 2020, SDSC Surf has been a proud partner of Surf Nation, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the partnership. We have watched their amazing club grow and seen them take full advantage being a part of the Surf brand.

We sat down with SDSC Surf's Executive Director, Peter Stogsdill, to learn more about how Surf has helped their club, players, coaches, and administrators with their upcoming season goals:
What is the greatest benefit to SDSC Surf being part of the Surf Nation community?
Being a part of the Surf Nation community has allowed our players and staff some opportunities that we probably would not have had on our own. For the staff, the coaching education and opportunities to coach in the Surf Select program have been a great addition to our overall program. For our players, having the opportunity to play in the Surf Select program and travel to tournaments that our teams would not normally attend has provided some great experiences for those players.
SDSC Surf has enjoyed an impressive run of success in postseason play this summer, and your club is home to some of the most experienced and respected coaches in the country. What do you believe are the key factors that have helped build and sustain this winning culture at SDSC Surf?
Being one of only two clubs in the entire country to qualify two teams for the Boys ECNL Finals is kind of the culmination of a season that was a bit of a roller coaster. As a club, we had to look within and make some hard choices. We know we have some great coaches with a lot of experience, but we also felt it was important to start looking for those younger coaches who were going to be a part of the next generation on our staff. We believe that really paid off this spring as we now have a coaching staff that is a great blend of youthful energy and drive combined with guys who have brought so much experience, knowledge, and leadership to our program. The blend has been great and seeing them all support each other and challenge their teams to do big things has been a lot of fun to see come together.
As we wind down the 2025/2026 season, what are some highlights from this season for your club?
In the soccer world, it is getting really hard to define when one season ends and another begins, especially this year with the age group changes. However, looking back at this season, there were a lot of great successes. Our younger program saw 4 teams, 2 boys and 2 girls, win SoCal State Championships. Our GA program saw two of the 6 teams make the knockout round of the GA playoffs. Our Aspire program had one team advance to the National Playoffs. Our ECNL-RL program had 2 teams make a deep run in the playoffs before both teams lost in overtime/PK's with a berth in the finals at stake. Lastly, in the Boys ECNL, the two teams advancing to the finals was kind of the icing on the cake!
