San Diego, CA., January 7, 2025— Surf proudly announces that South Bay Surf is now officially part of the San Diego Surf Soccer Club and will rebrand to San Diego Surf South. In the world of youth sports, the Surf brand is renowned for professionalism, elite event management, high-quality coaching, and, most importantly, a deep commitment to player development, resulting in hundreds of All-American athletes and thousands of scholarships. Our mission is to create experiences and opportunities for kids, and we’re excited to continue this mission in the San Diego community with the strength of San Diego Surf behind our crest.
San Diego Surf will now manage the San Diego Surf South operations using the same resources, methodology, pathways, and commitment to the Best of the Best as they have done in San Diego for the past 46 years. San Diego Surf will retain Scott Waddle as the Executive Director and Diego Terry as the Director of Coaching. San Diego Surf’s commitment to San Diego Surf South is based on its belief in coach/player development, the program’s success, and the rich talent pool in South San Diego.

With the guidance of the San Diego Surf leadership team, San Diego Surf will continue to provide the best player development experience, pathway, and opportunities in the community. Being part of the Surf Nation network, San Diego Surf South players and families will have access to additional support on and off the field to ensure we remain the number one soccer destination in the San Diego area.
Additionally, the top players from San Diego Surf South will continue to have direct access to our Surf Select program, an unprecedented identification program built through Surf Nation. This program allows selected players to compete in the best international and domestic events, picking from a player pool that expands from Puerto Rico, Rhode Island to Hawaii and Canada.
