San Diego, CA., August 1, 2023—Surf Nation, a mission-driven community, is proud to celebrate a historic campaign through post Season play, national college commitments, and players selected to international training centers across nine different nationalities to close the 2022/2023 season.
Surf’s mission is to create the ‘Best of the Best’ experiences and opportunities for youth soccer players through our clubs, events, and facilities. We partner with like-minded clubs and provide them with the tools so they can focus on what they love most, coaching and helping their players achieve their dream.
League platforms are always a hot topic in US Soccer, striving for the best competition and clubs finding the right environment to deliver the Surf mission. Moving into post-season play, which saw our community qualify 100+ teams across every major domestic platform in US Soccer, we are delighted to announce 8 National Champions, 6 National Runners Up, and 10 Semi-Finalists along with San Diego (Boys ECNL) and South Valley Surf (Girls E64) being named Club champions in their respective League platforms.
Along with celebrating team success, we are delighted to congratulate our graduating class of 2022/2023 and thank them specifically for their hard work and commitment to the Surf brand. We have record-breaking numbers seeing 332 athletes move onto collegiate play, finding their perfect fit academically, and achieving their goals of playing college soccer. We can’t wait to see our Surfl alums compete in the upcoming Fall season.
The Surf Nation community has a proven track record of developing players and seeing them move through the player pathway into National Team Programs. As our Surf Nation community expands, we are now seeing a larger pool of players selected both domestically and internationally to various training centers, this year celebrating over 100+ Surf Nation players selected across eight nationalities to be identified for multiple training centers and beyond.
“We aim to deliver our mission of being the best of the best every single day within our community,” says Andy Prosser. Surf Nation Director “There is always a fine balance between winning and development, with success coming in many different ways. Our post-season numbers for both team and individual player success demonstrates we are finding the right balance in developing great players into great teams with a club and community focus. I am honored and proud to work with these clubs daily, and I would like to congratulate everyone within Surf Nation on a historic 2022/2023 season. What excites me most is we will strive to better every day, and I am excited to see what we can achieve moving into the 2023/2024 Season.”
