Surf Cup Sports (San Diego, CA) is proud to announce the launch of our newest partner club, Alberta Surf. Based in the city of Grande Prairie. Alberta Surf, an expansion of the existing British Columbia Surf, will be launching this coming February to build a community powerhouse that will create improved experiences and opportunities for all players within the City and beyond.

British Columbia Surf who has recently become a member of the BC soccer pathway, will be launching Alberta Surf with the support of San Diego Surf Club, which has a proven track record of developing players and seeing them move through the player pathway into the US National Team Program as well as into the professional and collegiate ranks.

Led by the recent hire of Development Officer Chris Morgan, Alberta Surf will provide high-quality programming and a full pathway for players in Grande Prairie and surrounding communities. Alberta Surf will work with existing BC Surf leadership and Surf Nation affiliates to deliver a holistic approach to player development which will challenge players to learn the game in a positive and encouraging environment.

“We strive to make Surf Nation stronger in talent every single day,” says Brian Enge, Surf CEO. “As our Surf Nation Program continues to expand in Canada, it’s important we empower our existing affiliates who are dedicated to delivering our mission to provide the best of the best experiences and opportunities for their athletes. We are delighted to move into an area that has such a deep talent of players and coaches.”

Alberta Surf will launch to provide the best player development experience, pathway, and opportunities in the community. Being part of the Surf Nation network, Alberta Surf players and families will be provided additional support both on and off the field to ensure we become the number one soccer destination in the province.

“We’re excited because the talent in Northern Alberta is untapped. These communities have provided a great base for children to experience the game. We look forward to providing enhanced and meaningful opportunities and training experiences for those looking to further their journey within the game,” say CEO Jazz Sohal. “Coach Chris Morgan as the lead for our program reflects our professionalism and vision for the future of our organization in Alberta. “

The top players in Alberta Surf will have direct access to Surf Select, an identification program built through Surf Nation. This program offers selected players the opportunity to compete in the best international and domestic events, picking from a player pool that expands from Rhode Island through to Hawaii.
